This is the concept for the main character, this would be who the player … played.
These are the basic concepts of the huts that villages and cities would be made up of.
Here’s an Image of what some of the tree’s would look like through the game world.
In the first level of the game, the player would make their way down a volcano; at the base of the volcano he would find a burnt out village of some of the local residents of the well land. Here’s a rough concept of the village.
I’m going to post some of our concept docs for the project “Shiny Coins” we where working on. Found them on the old PC and thought it’d be cool to share. I found some old docs and so forth as well. So I figure I’ll put those up and finish the section on ‘Shiny Coins’ up in the next month, just to get the idea out there and out of my head for the time being.
Going to try and get back into the swing of blogging again, been so busy I just fell out of habit with it.
Trying to get on top of my schedule to make more time for things I enjoy lately (besides going out to the bar
). Back working with the MUD ‘The Eternal City‘ doing some coding. It’s been so long since I was there I’ve got to do a bunch of relearning of the code base, but that’s fun in and of itself. If you want to check out the game, it’s over at Skotos.net . There is a free trial, but Skotos is one of those ‘pay to play’ communities. I’m just glad to be back doing something with gaming again, seems like an eternity since I touched something.
I’ve also managed to get back to giving some time to the Game Club I founded over at Westwood College. (www.wolgameclub.org). I’m redoing the entire Members area into more of a ’social network’ type sight, so that it can be easily moderated and manged by the members, seems like after I left things sort of just bogged down; which I totally understand. Running the club is quite the undertaking and commands a lot of peoples time in order to keep things motivated for the members. Hopefully with the new direction we’re taking things will pick back up and we’ll start to see some more games coming from the club again.
On the club note, I’ve also got a license to “Realm Crafter” – I know.. I know.. – But, what we’re going to do with it is quite simple and for the members to have a place to practice things while they’re getting on teams to create their casual portfolio games. We think this will help spice things up and let everyone fell ‘involved’.. We’ll see how it works out, I plan on getting it installed and up and running sometime soon after the 1st.
Well, I guess that’s it for now.
Recently on one of our Windows 2008 servers I ran into a problem where I couldn’t start the windows event log service. This was a big problem for us as we use R1Soft for automatic backups on our servers and it requires the event log to be running.
1) Went to view the event log and received the message “The event log is not running, make sure the service is started”.
2) Went to restart the service and recieved the message ” Access Denied”
I read all sorts of different information on the Web, but noone of the solutions I found where of any help. Though, they did point me in the right direction.
My SOLUTION:
1) I opened up the services using run as admin start-> Administrative tools -> Services (if you have UAC right click and ‘Run as Admin’)
2) Scroll down on services and find ‘Windows event log’ -> Right click -> properties -> Click the Log On tab.
3) See which account is used to run this service, most likely it’ll be ‘Local Service’
4) head to %systemroot%\system32\ -> find the winevt folder.
5) Right click the folder -> click the security tab
6) Hit the ‘Edit’ button next to “To change permissions, click Edit”.
7) Hit the ‘Add’ Button
8)Now, type in the name that was in your ‘Log On’ tab for Windows event log. example: Local Service
9) Now give Full control to the Folder to this user…
Now go back and fire up the Windows Event Log Service and you should be good to go.
Kick off the dust; let it all ride, no time like now to live and die.
Let the wheels turn, let the future and past burn.
Hold on to nothing, let the wind fly.
Let the river flood and leave your footsteps in the mud.
Cock the gun; pull the trigger; let the boots run.
Ride the bullet, let it fuel the blood.
Dreams counter the reality that breeds a destination of ill contempt.
One path, one road, one truth.
